Great news for Agniveers in the Indian Army: 75%, up from 25%, now have the possibility of permanent employment. This proposal is being considered at the Army Commanders’ Conference in Jaisalmer.
There’s great news for young people across the country who dream of serving the nation by becoming Agniveers in the Indian Army. Until now, only 25% of Agniveers recruited were permanently inducted into the Army, but this number is proposed to be increased to 75% soon. This means that while previously only 25 out of 100 Agniveers received permanent jobs, now 75 out of 100 will be guaranteed a permanent career.
This major change is on the agenda of the Army Commanders’ Conference, which began in Jaisalmer on Thursday. Measures to enhance coordination and cohesion between the three services – the Army, Navy, and Air Force – will also be discussed. Additionally, a review of the implementation of “Mission Sudarshan Chakra” is also among the key issues at the meeting.

Proposal to increase the retention of Agniveers:
According to reports, the first batch of Agniveers will complete their four-year tenure next year. Keeping this in mind, a proposal was made at this meeting to increase the current 25% retention to 75%. This will provide young people with the opportunity to serve in the army for a longer period of time, providing stability to their careers.
The meeting will also discuss the growing number of veterans and options for effectively utilizing their experience
. Currently, veterans are employed in limited roles, such as the Army Welfare Education Society and ECHS polyclinics. However, the meeting will also consider their wider inclusion in various structures.

Measures to enhance coordination between the three services:
The meeting will also consider measures to enhance cooperation and synergy between the three services – the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force – including repair and replacement of damaged equipment, emergency procurement of critical stores, and safe stocking of ammunition for weapon systems.
Measures to promote better coordination with other services and stakeholders under Mission Sudarshan Chakra will also be discussed. This meeting is part of the second Army Commanders’ Conference of the year. The first phase was held in Delhi earlier this month.
