New Delhi, India: The Serum Institute of India (SII) has declared the prices of its COVISHEILD vaccines ahead of the next step of the COVID-19 vaccination drive on May 1.
The SII applauded the Centre’s announcement to vaccinate anyone over the age of 18 and stated that for the next two months, it would scale up vaccine development to counter the limited ability.
“Going forward, 50% of our capacity will be dedicated to the Government of India’s vaccination program, with the remaining 50% dedicated to state governments and private hospitals,” the company said.
In-state government hospitals, the SII’s COVID-19 vaccine COVISHEILD will cost Rs 400 per dose, while in private hospitals, it will cost Rs 600 per dose.
They mentioned that they are ensuring that their coronavirus vaccines are inexpensive in relation to other vaccines around the world, based on global vaccine prices. The SII also listed the global vaccine prices per dose in the private sector. According to the study, American vaccines cost more than Rs 1500 per injection, whereas Russian and Chinese vaccines cost more than Rs 750 per shot.

It is difficult to supply it separately to each corporate body, according to the Serum Institute of India, due to the difficulty and urgency of the situation.
“We will encourage both businesses and individuals to use the state-facilitated machinery and private health systems to obtain vaccines. The vaccines will be available in retail and free trade after 4-5 months “said the SII.
On April 19, the Centre announced that beginning May 1, people over the age of 18 would be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
