Delhi Government: Ahead of Diwali, the Aam Aadmi Party government of Delhi has decided to increase the minimum wages for unskilled workers, skilled workers, and semi-skilled workers. Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, disclosed this information on Wednesday. Manish Sisodia said the increase in the minimum wage will give relief to employees in the era of inflation. The decision to revise the monthly salary has come before Diwali and will come into effect from October 1. The minimum wage had previously been raised by the government in May.

Additionally, the minimum salary for administrative and managerial positions has increased. According to the deputy chief minister, those in the unorganized sector making minimum wage should also be eligible for dearness allowance, which is typically paid to state and federal employees.
Manish Sisodia said the Delhi government is revising the dearness allowance every six months to give relief from dearness to all the employees. Food inflation rose to 8.60% in September 2022, as against 7.62 percent in August.
