The British government has announced a fantastic program for young Indians. The British government has offered 3,000 Indian people the chance to live, work, and study in the UK for two years under the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme 2025. This program will have a ballot (lottery method) application process, which is completely free.
What is the visa program?
A friendly arrangement between Britain and India includes the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme, which permits 3,000 Indian youth to live, work, and study in the UK for two years each year. To apply for this visa, you do not need a sponsor or employment offer. Under this program, 2,100 Indian citizens received visas in 2023. Three thousand people will get this chance this year.
Qualifications for Indian Citizens
The applicant must be an Indian citizen, be between the ages of 18 and 30, have savings of at least £2,530 (roughly Rs 2,70,824) that have been continuously in the bank account for 28 days before the application, not have a child under the age of 18, be free of people who are already on a Youth Mobility Scheme visa, and have a graduation or higher degree in any field.
Qualifications for UK nationals
Before applying, they must have a minimum balance of Rs 2,50,000 (for 30 days) in their bank account, have a UK bachelor’s degree or higher, and meet all other eligibility requirements.
Deadlines and the Application Process
To apply, one must visit gov.uk’s official website and cast their ballot. Candidates must fill out the free ballot by providing their name, birthdate, phone number, email address, and passport information (with a scanned copy). The most recent application period took place between February 18 and 20, 2025. Within two weeks following the ballot ends, an email notifying the chosen candidates is sent. Only the candidates who were chosen from the ballot have the opportunity to apply for the visa because the ballot is entirely based on a lottery mechanism. Next year, the application process will take place once more.
After getting chosen on the ballot and obtaining a visa, what happens next?
An email alerting the chosen applicants to the availability of visa applications will be sent to them. They have 90 days from the time they receive the email to finish the online visa application, send in their biometrics (picture and fingerprints), pay the visa application fee, and pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS). After receiving the visa, applicants are allowed to remain in the UK for two years, during which they are free to work, study, or travel as they want. This visa can only be extended for a maximum of two years, and the candidate must return to India at the end of that time.
