The last Test match against South Africa will start on January 11 and the ODI matches will start from January 19. The ODI squad against South Africa has not been announced. India and South Africa were also to play 4 T20 matches, but due to Omicron, the tour had to be pushed back from 17 December to 26 December, due to which the T20 series was called off.
Recently, the BCCI has removed Virat Kohli as the ODI captain and made Rohit Sharma the new captain, after which there are reports of some controversy in Team India. It is reported that Virat Kohli is still angry with this decision of BCCI and has withdrawn from the ODI series to be held in South Africa. According to the English newspaper ‘The Times of India’, Virat Kohli has withdrawn from the ODI series against South Africa. Virat has described himself as ‘unavailable’. If this happens then the Indian team will go without Virat in the ODI series.
Kohli doesn’t want to play under Rohit’s captaincy?
This will mean that Virat Kohli will not be seen playing under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. India’s tour of South Africa will start from December 26, where they have to play a 3-match Test series and an ODI series of as many matches. The first ODI match will be played between India and South Africa from January 19. According to a report in the Times of India, Kohli is taking time out to celebrate his daughter Vamika’s first birthday.

South Africa withdrew from the ODI series!
Vamika was born on January 11 last year and Kohli is planning a holiday with his family after the end of the Test series.
Virat is no more India’s ODI and T20 captain
Last month, Virat Kohli was also rested for the T20I series against New Zealand and was also rested for the Kanpur Test before returning for the Mumbai Test, which India won brilliantly. He previously led India in the 2021 T20 World Cup, which was his last match as captain in white-ball cricket for India. Rohit Sharma has captained India in 10 ODIs so far. India has also won the Asia Cup trophy under his captaincy.
Big trouble in front of BCCI
The ODI captaincy has been snatched from Virat Kohli and given to Rohit Sharma and now if the news is to be believed, Virat Kohli is going to take a rest from the three-match ODI series against South Africa. The news of Virat Kohli’s rest is also shocking because he was rested from the three-match T20 International series and one Test match against New Zealand after the T20 World Cup 2021. In such a situation, the big question is why is Virat Kohli taking this step? Even now the difficulty has increased for the Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI.
Actually, Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the three-match Test series against South Africa due to a hamstring injury. His injury is said to be serious and in such a situation it is believed that he will not be able to play the three-match ODI series against South Africa. In such a situation, the problem before the BCCI is that who will now captain Team India in the ODI series? If the captaincy has been taken away from Virat Kohli, then he might not be available for it. Even the BCCI has not announced the vice-captain of Team India for the ODI series.
