Harley-Davidson has ceased operations in India and has partnered with Hero MotoCorp to maintain its presence in the country. Instead of expensive motorcycles, the company is now focusing on entry-level bikes in the country. Harley-Davidson partnered with Chinese automaker Qianjing a few years ago, and an agreement was signed to produce mid-level platforms and engines. It will be a 500cc motorcycle.
A video of a Harley-Davidson 338R has surfaced on a Chinese website, indicating that the two-wheeler could be a new 500 cc motorcycle. We can tell from the photo that this bike resembles a Harley-Davidson Roadster. Round headlamps with silver bezels and a teardrop-shaped fuel tank have been added to the bike. The new motorcycle has rounded rearview mirrors as well as a tall single-piece seat. Let us point out that the presence of this motorcycle during testing does not imply that Harley-Davidson is preparing it.
HD500 is also written on the backside.
The Harley-Davidson logo on the bike’s fuel tank clearly indicates that it is a Harley-Davidson motorcycle; additionally, HD500 is written on the rear side, implying that it could be a 500 cc Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Harley-collaboration Davidson’s with Benelli’s parent company is also visible on the bike. It has a steel trellis frame, upside-down forks for suspension at the front, and mono-shock at the rear, all of which are similar to Benelli scooters. No engine details have been released, but it is expected that a 500 cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine from the Benelli Leoncino 500 will be used. This engine comes with a 6-speed transmission
