In line with the government’s clean and green initiatives, the Wagon R flex fuel prototype has been designed to run on any ethanol-petrol blend between 20 percent (E20) and 85 percent (E85) fuel. The car has been locally designed and developed by engineers from Suzuki Motor Corporation and Maruti Suzuki.

The Wagon R flex fuel prototype gets an advanced engine specially designed for ethanol-blended petrol. New fuel system technology has been built in to make the engine compatible with ethanol blends (E20-E85), a heated fuel rail for cold start assist, and an ethanol sensor to detect ethanol percentage. Other mechanical parts, such as an updated fuel pump and fuel injectors, have also been designed and updated while keeping in mind the durability of the car and its engine.

Maruti Suzuki said that it has developed engine management system strategies and administration zonal systems to comply with the BS6 Stage-II emission norms. Company working on new technology
