Delhi-Meerut RRTS Rapid Rail: The Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail Transit System will be India’s first high-speed rapid rail urban network. The under-construction railway line will start from Delhi and connect Meerut in Uttar Pradesh with Ghaziabad, Modinagar, and Muzaffarnagar. While the modern train being deployed by NCRTC for the RRTS corridor is capable of running at a speed of 180 kmph.
Now a video has surfaced on Twitter in which India’s first rapid regional train is shown passing through an under-construction RRTS train station at a speed of 150 kmph. After the launch of this rail network system, Rapid Rail. Vande Bharat Express will become the fastest train in India leaving behind. Vande Bharat Express has also been designed for a top speed of 180 kmph. But the safety limits on the railway track limit the top speed of Vande Bharat trains to only 130 kmph. Whereas, RRTS will be an elevated railway line. In there will be no public interference and hence it can run at a speed of more than 150 kmph without any problem.
The video without a date or location is shot from an undisclosed station where RRTS trains arrive and leave the station in seconds. Reports suggest that the speed is 150-160 kmph. RRTS trains are the fastest metro trains in India and will also be the first regional rapid rail. Currently, NCRTC, the parent organization of Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail, is conducting trial runs at Duhai Depot.
The depot has recently received 4 new trainsets from Alstom, the manufacturer of rapid rail on this section. A target has been set to make the entire Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS operational by 2025. Its Duhai-Sahibabad section in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad is expected to be commissioned in early 2023.
