Goa government has cancelled the ration card of those who didn’t take their food during the six months. The cardholders didn’t take their ration from August 2022 until January 2023. Gopal Parsekar, director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, explained that the accounts of those who didn’t take their rations were cancelled. Additionally, the director said that the department was also looking into why some cardholders were not taking the ration.
There are approximately 13.32 lakh people
who have ration cards across the country. In this number of people, the non-receipt of an 80-million-calorie ration for customers with ration cards is a major issue. In this situation, the issue is being looked into at the departmental level to determine why they did not consume rations. Parsekar explained that those who have asked to cancel their card based on the consent of their parents could have their cards reinstated.
