More than 10 meetings are proposed
Sitharaman is in Bengaluru for the two-day conference. He has thus far had separate one-on-one talks with the Italian Finance Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, the Japanese Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki, and US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. He has to hold more than 10 such meetings. The finance minister’s meeting with Yellen covered topics including regulating cryptocurrencies and bolstering multilateral development banks.
Following their discussion, the two leaders discussed the G20’s financial priorities for India in 2023, according to a tweet from the Finance Ministry. They discussed the ‘Just Energy Transition Partnership’ (GETP) besides strengthening multilateral development banks, global debt vulnerabilities, and regulating crypto assets. and strengthen health.
In another tweet, the finance ministry said Sitharaman discussed priorities under the ‘G20 Finance Track 2023’ with her Japanese counterpart. The Finance Ministry said that during the meeting the Italian Finance Minister expressed his full support for India’s successful Chairmanship in 2023.
