Cybercriminals are placing malware-filled software or hardware on public charging stations to handle this kind of scam. Through public charging stations like USB ports or charging kiosks, these fraudsters prey on users.
You should be aware that you can transfer
files and data through the mobile device’s charging connector. Cybercriminals utilize open charging ports to spread malware to linked phones to take control of or steal sensitive data from a person’s mobile phone, including emails, SMS, saved passwords, etc. Avoid utilizing public charging stations to prevent juice jacking. If you must use a public charging station, thoroughly inspect the USB cable before connecting it to your device. Do not use the USB cable if anything seems out of the ordinary.
Other precautions you can take against juice jacking include:
– Password-protect your device.
– Update the antivirus program on your device.
– Use Face ID or the fingerprint scanner to prevent unauthorized usage of your smartphone.
– Steer clear of utilizing public WiFi.
