After June 14, if your Aadhaar is more than ten years old and you haven’t updated it recently, it will be worthless. For the past few days, these statements have been going popular on social media. These notifications about updating Aadhaar cards that are more than ten years old are becoming widely circulated. Aadhaar cards are allegedly going to be worthless in this manner from June 14. However, the Unique Identification Authority of India, or UIDAI, has not released any information to support this claim.
Will Aadhar cards that are ten years old become useless?
In actuality, Aadhar cards that are ten years old or older will not lose their value or become invalid. These Aadhar cards will function just as they always have. The question at hand is where June 14th came from. We would like to inform you that the free Aadhar card update deadline has been set by UIDAI for June 14th. This implies that you have till June 14 to update your Aadhar card for free. On social media, the same message is being misrepresented, shared, and forwarded.
After June 14, this service will no longer be offered.
Up to June 14, updating your Aadhaar online won’t cost you a dime. You will be charged Rs 50 beyond this deadline if you want to change anything on your Aadhaar card, including your name, address, or anything else. Before June 14, you can upload documents online for free to update your Aadhaar card.
There are offline fees.
Only online services are eligible for the free update feature. You will be charged Rs 50 for the update if you visit the closest Aadhaar center to update offline. You must visit the Aadhaar center to obtain your biometric or demographic information details updated by paying a fee of Rs 50. In such a situation, it is better that if you have to make any changes to your Aadhaar, then do it online from home without any charge before 14th June.
