Rules for buying new SIM Card changed by government, porting is simple now

Significant modifications have been implemented by the government to the SIM card procurement procedure via the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). Purchasing SIM cards from major telecom providers like Airtel, Jio, BSNL, and Vi has now become lot simpler and safer. For Indian users, the entire transaction is now paperless and fraud-free thanks to these new regulations.

No longer necessary to visit the store

The new regulations eliminate the requirement that you visit the telecom company’s office to purchase a SIM card or switch telecom providers. Now, the entire procedure is done online. Thus, you may easily verify your documents online if you want to switch telecom providers or receive a new SIM card.

The new regulations on X have been made public by the government. These regulations will reduce fraud and simplify the card purchase process. The government wants to make India a digital nation and safeguard its citizens from fraud. The government has implemented self- and e-KYC. These days, switching from prepaid to postpaid or from postpaid to prepaid does not require you to visit the telecom company’s office to purchase a card. Everything is done online.
