The free Aadhaar Card updating program has been extended by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) until December 14. Millions of people who have Aadhaar numbers will gain from this action. Previously, the free Aadhaar card update deadline was September 14, 2024. This service, however, has been extended until December 14; after that, a fee will be required to upload documents and modify a user’s profile on the ‘MyAadhaar’ portal.
You can access the MyAadhaar portal for free.
UIDAI said in a post on the social media site “X” that the free online document upload feature would be available until December 14, 2024, to benefit millions of Aadhaar number holders. This free service is available only on the MyAadhaar portal. UIDAI is encouraging people to keep the documents updated in their Aadhaar.”
After ten years, update your Aadhaar.
People who haven’t updated their Aadhaar card in more than ten years are strongly encouraged by UIDAI to maintain their Aadhaar documentation up to date. If needed, they can go over and edit their data. Every Indian citizen has an Aadhaar number, which is a unique identifier connected to personal biometrics. Additionally, this approach aids in locating and eliminating fictitious or false identities. At least once every ten years, people have been urged to update their Aadhaar card information.
These records are required to update Aadhaar.
Anybody can use documents like as a ration card, voter ID card, residence certificate, passport, and passbook to update their information on the “MyAadhaar” portal. These records may be turned in via the ‘MyAadhaar’ portal or at any Aadhaar enrolment center. On online submission, the person has to log in using the one-time password received on the mobile number linked to his/her Aadhaar number.
This facility is also available to NRIs.
According to UIDAI, NRIs (non-resident Indians) are also eligible to use this service. When in India, NRIs can visit an Aadhaar center or submit documents online. Newborns can also enroll for Aadhaar by “providing birth certificate and Aadhaar number of parents,” according to UIDAI. However, every five to fifteen years, their Aadhaar biometrics should be updated.
