EPFO Alert: Generate UAN via UMANG App Easily

Any employer can create a UAN for a new hire utilizing Aadhaar Face Authentication Technology (FAT) by using the same Umang App.

The Labour Ministry has announced that employees who are enrolled in social security programs offered by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), a retirement fund body, can now generate a universal provident fund account number (UAN) and related services through face authentication. Previously, it had to be generated by the company’s human resources department.

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has launched improved digital services for UAN allotment and activation using face authentication, according to Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. This is a major step towards contactless, secure, and fully digital service delivery for crores of members.

According to him, the Umang Mobile App now allows employees to generate UANs directly utilizing Aadhaar Face Authentication Technology (FAT).

Following UAN generation, the employee can obtain the UAN card via the Member Portal or the UMANG App. The new procedure has the benefit of 100% Aadhaar and user validation using facial authentication.

The minister went on to say that members who previously had a UAN but had not yet activated it may now do so with ease using the UMANG App.

When it comes to biometric authentication, Face Authentication offers a higher level of security than more conventional techniques like demographic or OTP-based authentication.

A variety of self-service alternatives for members will also be made possible by this safe verification, which will remove the need for employer or Regional Office intervention in many upcoming services.
