AC Water Leakage? Try These Fixes

Water pouring from air conditioners is a common issue during hot and muggy weather. A clogged drainpipe or an unclean air filter may be the primary cause of this. Water cannot escape because the drainpipe is blocked, and the indoor unit begins to leak. A dirty air filter also decreases airflow, which causes ice to build on the evaporator coil and water to drip when it melts. Cleaning or replacing the air filter and drainpipe will resolve this issue.

These days, the situation has gotten worse in many parts of the nation due to intermittent rain and intense heat. The humidity has significantly increased as a result of this summertime rain. Only air conditioning may relieve this oppressive heat in such a scenario, but frequently, because of the high humidity when using the air conditioner, water begins to leak out of it. You shouldn’t be concerned if water has also begun to splash from your air conditioner. We’ll explain its cause and how to resolve it today.

Another possible cause is an air filter.

Does the drainpipe have a blockage?

In actuality, the air conditioner extracts the moisture from the space and releases it as water. This water exits through the drainpipe, but the air conditioner has trouble removing the water if the drainpipe becomes clogged with dust, debris, or any other obstruction. As a result, water begins to seep through the pipe into the interior unit and fall into the cold air-filled room.

Now, how can it be fixed?

If you’re experiencing this as well, start by cleaning the drain line. Clean the pipe if there is any blockage or accumulated debris. For this, you can also enlist the assistance of a service engineer if necessary.

Another possible cause is an air filter.

Additionally, this issue may arise if the AC’s air filter is excessively soiled. The evaporator coil begins to freeze when it gets too cold because a dirty filter significantly restricts airflow. Water begins to trickle from the air conditioner when this ice melts. In such a circumstance, you should remove the air filter every 15 days and clean it completely. Get the filter changed as well, if necessary.
