Rain-damaged device? Dry quickly; avoid powering on.

If your laptop or phone gets wet during the monsoon, don’t freak out. Don’t charge the smartphone and turn it off right away. After taking out the memory card and SIM, gently wipe it down with a dry towel. Avoid using a hair dryer. To allow it to absorb moisture, store it in an airtight box with silica gel for 24 to 48 hours. You can prevent harm to the equipment by adopting the appropriate precautions.

In many parts of the country, it has been raining a lot since the monsoon season began. In this case, getting wet during this rainy season poses a serious risk to our laptops and iPhones. People frequently panic and make mistakes once their laptop and phone get wet in the rain, which damages their pricey gadgets. On the other hand, you shouldn’t freak out in such a circumstance. You can prevent significant loss if you take action right away if your laptop or phone becomes wet. Let’s discuss what to do in the event that the laptop or phone gets drenched in water.

In many parts of the country, it has been raining a lot since the monsoon season began.

Switch off the gadget.

Turn off your laptop or smartphone first if it gets soaked from the rain and is still running. Water can cause a short circuit in the gadget; therefore, make sure to fully shut down the laptop if it is left on sleep. Additionally, avoid making the mistake of turning it on too rapidly, even if everything appears to be in order from the outside.

Avoid charging and using

Don’t charge your laptop or phone right away if you just got home from getting wet in the rain. Additionally, avoid trying to turn the gadget on or pressing any of its buttons. Water may enter the device as a result, perhaps leading to more harm. Some people even turn on their phones to see if they are still functional, which frequently results in significant damage.

Take out the casing, memory card, and SIM card.

First, open the SIM tray and remove the SIM and memory card from the phone if it has become too wet from the rain. Dry them separately now. To help the phone dry faster, take off the case or cover as well.

Take out the casing, memory card, and SIM card.

Use a dry cloth to gently wipe.

Now make sure the laptop or phone is completely dry from the outside as well. You can use a dry, soft cloth for this. Even if you accidentally use a hair dryer, heater, or microwave, don’t do it. Using these could harm the device’s internal components.

Give it a full day or two to dry.

Allow the gadget to completely dry for at least 24 to 48 hours if it has become too wet. If you’d like, you can also store your device in an airtight box containing silica gel to help the moisture evaporate as quickly as possible.
