CCPA GST Clarification: 3,981 complaints have been made by customers since the new GST changes. The most common complaints have been about gadgets, milk, and gasoline. These complaints are being tracked in real time by the Department of Consumer Affairs.

With the Next-Generation GST Reforms 2025 going into force on September 22, 2025, India’s tax structure would undergo a radical transformation. Its goal is to make the tax system simpler while guaranteeing that customers benefit from reasonable tax rates. Thus far, 3,981 complaints about GST have been sent to the National Consumer Helpline (NCH). These comprise 31% of inquiries and 69% of actual grievances. The Indian government’s Department of Consumer Affairs is keeping a careful eye on these complaints in order to provide a prompt settlement and explanation.

Next-Generation GST Reforms 2025

Brand owners and e-commerce businesses are receiving complaints.

Through the NCH’s multi-channel grievance redressal system, the Department of Consumer Affairs has made it possible for customers to immediately file concerns pertaining to GST. For quick resolution, the complaints are sent to the appropriate brand owners and online retailers.

Most people are confused about milk, gasoline, and electronics.

The cost of milk accounts for a significant portion of the complaints that NCH receives. Customers complained to NCH about milk companies failing to pass on the savings from the GST reform. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) discovered throughout the investigation that UHT milk had just been exempted and that fresh milk was already exempt.

Following this, electronic products accounted for a significant portion of the complaints. Consumers protested that durable items like laptops, refrigerators, and washing machines that were bought online were still subject to the previous GST rates. The CCPA stated that while computers and refrigerators are already subject to the 18 percent GST, the GST rate on TVs, monitors, and air conditioners was lowered from 28 percent to 18 percent.
