New Service Allows Calls Without Network Connection

BSNL VoWiFi: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a state-owned telecom provider, has revealed a big present for its customers. Voice calls will now be possible for those without a mobile network.

BSNL VoWiFi: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a state-owned telecom provider, has presented its customers with a significant gift. Customers of the business can now make voice calls without a mobile network. VoWiFi (Voice over Wi-Fi) is a new service from BSNL that allows users to make calls using a Wi-Fi connection rather than a mobile network. By making this change, BSNL is now on par with commercial firms that already offer similar service, including as Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone-Idea.

BSNL network expansion

More than 100,000 mobile towers have been installed nationwide by BSNL as part of its recent expansion of 4G services. In the upcoming days, the business intends to erect an additional 97,500 towers. On BSNL’s 25th anniversary, the introduction of the VoWiFi service is seen as yet another significant milestone.

Neeraj Mittal, Secretary of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), soft-launched the service on October 2. The service is currently only available in the South and West circles, but it will soon be expanded throughout the entire country. In addition, BSNL recently introduced eSIM and 4G services in Mumbai after first introducing them in Tamil Nadu.

How would VoWiFi from BSNL operate?

In places with inadequate mobile networks, this service will be extremely helpful. Customers will be able to use their home Wi-Fi or broadband connection to make uninterrupted, clear conversations. Users must, however, have a VoWiFi-capable smartphone. This option is presently included in the settings of the majority of recent iPhone and Android models.

How would VoWiFi from BSNL operate?

Every BSNL client receives free service.

BSNL has announced that this new VoWiFi service will be absolutely free. There will be no extra fees for users to make calls. Through its official X (previously Twitter) account, the firm declared that the service will offer users smooth calling and better connectivity at no extra cost.

Private businesses will compete with BSNL.

Major telecom companies like Jio, Airtel, and Vi are now direct competitors of BSNL as a result of this action. Wi-Fi calling was formerly provided by these private companies, but BSNL has now joined the group. For BSNL, this endeavor may represent a big step toward updating its network and gaining a stronger position in the Indian telecom industry.
