The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday (May 18) set a limit on the number of people who can attend weddings during the current COVID-19 crisis-related lockdown.
Weddings and other events will now be limited to a maximum of 25 participants, according to new regulations.
According to PTI, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi said in a letter to district officials that permission would be granted for up to 25 invitees to attend weddings and other functions at a time, both in open and enclosed spaces.
Attendees must adhere to COVID-19 guidelines for conduct, and strict social distancing must be observed when seating arrangements are made. The directive stated that proper sanitation and cleanliness of toilets at the venue where the function is being held must be rendered.

The organizers would be responsible for adhering to these terms, according to the order.
For weddings, an earlier order released on April 20 called for a limit of 50 people in enclosed spaces and 100 people in open spaces.
The UP government had previously extended the partial “corona curfew” until May 24.
On Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh registered 8,737 new cases, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 16,37,663. COVID-19 has now claimed the lives of 18,072 people, according to Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad.
