IRCTC: Online ticket not booked, but money deducted from the account! Know then how you will get a refund

While booking tickets through the IRCTC website, it sometimes happens that money is deducted from the bank account, but the ticket is not booked. What should you do in such a situation? Will you get a refund, if so how and how long will it take?

There are many payment options available on IRCTC

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is an online ticket booking and cancellation platform for passengers, where you get various options for booking and paying for tickets. Users can use these options at their convenience. Net banking, debit card, credit card, e-wallet, a digital wallet can be used for ticket booking and payment.

Sometimes the payment fails

Many times users face problems during booking on the IRCTC e-ticketing website because thousands of people are booking tickets on the website every second, due to which the load on the website is very high, due to which many times after booking. When it comes to payment, the payment fails, the money is deducted from the account, but the ticket is not booked.

It is a very complex system: IRCTC

IRCTC has to say that online payment on IRCTC involves a complex network of technical and telecommunications networking integration between the customer’s Internet bandwidth, IT systems of banks, and payment gateways and is dependent on Internet connectivity among a number of factors. Any failure or delay in this complex network can lead to payment failure before the transaction is completed. In such a situation, money is deducted from the account but the ticket cannot be booked. It happens under these circumstances.

When the payment is done but the ticket is not booked

This happens when a passenger chooses a berth at the time of booking, but due to the non-availability of the berth, the ticket is not booked. Network failure can also become a reason. In such a situation, the customer’s money is returned to his respective bank the very next day. Then the bank would transfer that money to the account of the customer from whom the booking has been made, which takes 2-3 working days.

When the payment fails and the ticket is not booked

Such a situation arises when the system or network of the bank or payment gateway fails before IRCTC gets the amount. The amount does not reach the IRCTC account and remains with the bank. Then the bank returns the money after verification.
