Covid-19: 7,293 people have been cured in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cured people to 4,27,15,193.
According to the latest bulletin of the health ministry, India’s daily Covid-19 tally remained below the 10,000 mark for the first time in six days as 9,923 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours as against 12,781 on Monday.
The daily increase in cases stood at 8,822 last Wednesday. The number of active cases also rose by 2,613 to reach near 80,000. Active cases in India – 79,313 – now account for over 0.18 percent of the total confirmed cases. According to health ministry data, 17 new Covid-related deaths were also reported on Tuesday, taking the total death toll since the start of the pandemic to 5,24,890.
In terms of state-wise figures, Maharashtra recorded over 2,300 Covid infections in the last 24 hours – of which 1,310 were from Mumbai alone. The state also recorded two deaths on Monday. Meanwhile, the positivity rate in the national capital remained above 10 percent as Delhi reported 1,060 fresh infections and six Covid deaths. According to the data shared by the news agency PTI, a total of 686 cases were also reported from Tamil Nadu. Gujarat saw 217 new Covid cases, West Bengal 224, Telangana 246, and Madhya Pradesh 71.
Across India, the recovery rate was recorded at 98.61 percent, according to the health ministry data. In the last 24 hours, 7,293 people were cured, taking the total number of cured people to 4,27,15,193.
On the vaccination front, over 13 lakh doses were administered in the last 24 hours, of which over 3.5 lakh were booster doses. 2.91 lakh jabs – including 1st and 2nd dose – were given to children between 12-15 years of age.
