Almost everyone is trying to get registered for a COVID-19 vaccine jab as soon as possible, given the unprecedented rise in COVID-19 infections across the country.
New Delhi: With the unprecedented rise in COVID-19 infections across the country, almost everyone is rushing to get registered for a COVID-19 vaccine shot as soon as possible.
The third phase of India’s COVID-19 vaccination drive started on May 1, in which everyone over the age of 18 can be vaccinated against the coronavirus, but several facilities have expressed concerns about vaccine shortages.
Following that, many people have created platforms that use the official COVID-19 vaccine registration tool, CoWIN API, to help people find open vaccination slots near them.

However, contributing to the officials’ and citizens’ concerns, a bogus message is now circulating on cell phones stating that by merely installing the attached app, individuals will be able to register for the COVID-19 vaccination slot.
Only Android users are receiving this message via the messages app. According to Lukas Stefano’s tweet, the connection embedded in the message leads to malware, which he first discovered last month.
According to Stefanko, the bogus message sent to Indian Android users includes a link that says “Registration for vaccine using COVID-19 app.”
This malware-infected software also comes with a lite version and is labeled as a COVID-19 Vaccine Registration app. In India, Android users who receive such messages are advised to ignore or remove them. COVID-19 vaccine registration is only available via the CoWIN website, Android app, and Aarogya Setu app for citizens who are fit.
