New Delhi, India: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the southwest monsoon has moved further in more portions of the southwest and the east-central Bay of Bengal, and conditions are favorable for its onset across Kerala around May 31.
Over the last two weeks, two cyclones – Tauktae and Yaas – have ravaged the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Due to these two circulations, there has been a lot of rain in some sections of the country.

“Today, May 27 morning, the southwest monsoon has progressed farther into some more portions of the Maldives-Comorin area, southwest and the east-central Bay of Bengal, most of Southeast Bay of Bengal, and some portions of west-central Bay of Bengal.”
According to the IMD, “conditions are predicted to become favorable for the onset of southwest monsoon across Kerala around May 31.”
The advent of the monsoon in Kerala usually begins on June 1st. This also marks the start of the four-month rainy season, which runs from June to September.
This year’s monsoon is expected to be normal, according to the IMD.
