Aadhaar and PAN can be linked via SMS as well. To do so, send the text UIDPAN to the numbers 567678 or 56161.
Today, June 30, is the last day to link your Aadhaar and Permanent Account Number (PAN) without incurring additional fees. Starting on July 1st, there will be a twofold fine of Rs 1,000 for failing to link your PAN and Aadhaar.
“CBDT has moved forward the deadline for tying Aadhaar to PANs from March 31, 2022, to March 31, 2023. Aadhaar and PAN can be linked till March 31, 2023. You will need to pay a cost of Rs. 500 till June 30, 2022, and a fee of Rs. 1000 from July 1, 2022, according to a notice posted on the Income Tax Department website.
How to connect Aadhaar with PAN:
― Pay a visit to incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal, the I-T Department’s official website.
― Sign up on the website with your PAN number.
― Select the option to link your Aadhaar card after logging in.
― Your PAN card details will be used to pre-fill entries such as your name, cellphone number, and others. Check them.
― Select the link choice by clicking.
― Your Aadhaar and PAN will be linked once you have paid the fine.
Your PAN and Aadhaar can be linked in additional ways. The two can also be connected by SMS. UIDPAN, 12 digit Aadhaar, and 10 digit PAN should be typed in and sent to 567678 or 56161.
You can also do it offline by going to a nearest PAN service centre. A completed “Annexure-I” form and copies of your PAN and Aadhaar cards may be submitted. This service is for a fee.
You can check the linkage between Aadhaar and PAN by visiting the IT department’s website. Here are the steps to confirm the PAN-Aadhaar link:
― Visit incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal to access the official website.
― On the home page, click the Aadhaar Link option.
― To validate, provide your PAN and Aadhaar information.
― You will see your PAN-Aadhaar status on the screen.
