In the message going viral on social media for the last few days, it is being claimed that journalists will be exempted from all toll taxes in the country. It has also been claimed in the message that journalists will have to show their identity cards here, after which they will be allowed to go further. But when PIB fact-checked this message, shocking information came to the fore.

The list released by the Ministry of Transport

On the basis of PIB Fact Check, it was informed that some vehicles have been exempted from paying toll tax. But this is not the case with the vehicles of journalists. A list has also been issued by the Ministry of Transport, in which about 25 people have been exempted from paying toll tax. In this, everyone from ambulance to the Prime Minister of India has been given relief from toll tax.

These vehicles are exempted from toll tax

– President of India
– Vice President of India
– prime minister of India –
Governor of any State
Chief Justice of India
Speaker of the Lok Sabha / Chairman of the Rajya Sabha
Chief Minister of a State
– Cabinet Minister
– Supreme Court Justice
Minister of State of a State
– LG of a Union Territory
Chief of Staff with the rank of Full General or equivalent
Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of a State
Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of a State
chief justice of a high court
– Judge of the High Court
-Lok Sabha/Rajya Sabha MP
– Secretary to the Government of India
– Lok Sabha Secretary
– Chief Secretary, State Government
Chief of Army Staff or equivalent in other services

Apart from the vehicles of the above people, paramilitary forces, central or state armed forces, fire departments, and executive magistrates also do not have to pay toll tax. Vehicles have also been exempted from paying toll tax. A foreign dignitary, a member of the Legislative Assembly of a State, who is on a visit to the State, is exempted from paying toll tax if he shows an identity card issued by the concerned State Legislature. Awardees of Param Vir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, Maha Vir Chakra, Kirti Chakra, Vir Chakra, and Shaurya Chakra do not have to pay toll tax if the awardee displays his photo identity card.
