Maruti Fronx CNG Testing: Maruti Suzuki dominates the Indian CNG car market. Tata and Hyundai are also fighting in the CNG segment, but they are not getting the same success as Maruti Suzuki. Maruti Suzuki has a large portfolio of CNG cars, which the company is focusing on expanding further. Maruti Suzuki is now testing the CNG version of its new Frox SUV, which was recently spotted on a road test in Pune.
Franks was recently spotted with emissions test equipment, which suggests a CNG variant is in the works. Although no official statement was made by the company regarding its CNG version at the time of introducing France. Frox is expected to launch in April. Bookings for the petrol variant are open for a token amount of Rs 11,000.
The 1.2-litre K-Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine of the Maruti Fronx could be offered with a CNG option. On petrol the engine generates 89.73 PS max power and 113 Nm peak torque. This engine will generate less power and torque on CNG. Its 1.2-litre engine comes with 5MT and 5AMT transmission options but the CNG will only get the 5MT.
The second engine option in the Franks will be the 1.0-litre turbo petrol, which generates 100 PS and 147.6 Nm. Transmission options include 5-speed manual and 6AT. This engine option will start with the Delta+ trim. However, the Delta+ will get only a manual transmission with the turbo engine while the Zeta and Alpha trims will get both MT and AT options.
