In August 2023, all public and commercial banks in India will be closed for a total of fourteen days. Independence Day, Onam, Raksha Bandhan, the Parsi New Year, and a few other local holidays are all included in the list of bank holidays for August 2023. Banks will be closed on a number of August weekends in addition to these bank holidays. Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays are among them. These holidays have been divided into three groups by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI): Banks’ Closing of Accounts Holidays, Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holidays.

• August 8, 2023 (Tuesday) Tendong Lho Rum Faat (Banks closed in Sikkim)
• August 12, 2023 (Second Saturday) Second Saturday holiday
• August 13, 2023 (Sunday) Weekly Holiday
• August 15, 2023 (Tuesday) Independence Day (national holiday)
• August 16, 2023 (Wednesday) Parsi New Year – Shahenshahi (Banks closed in Maharashtra)
• August 18, 2023 ( Friday) Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva (Banks closed in Assam)
• August 20, 2023 (Sunday) Weekly holiday
• August 26, 2023 (fourth Saturday)
• Fourth Saturday holiday
• August 27, 2023 (Sunday) Weekly holiday
• August 28, 2023 (Monday) First Onam (Banks closed in Kerala)
• August 29, 2023 (Tuesday) Thiruvonam (Banks closed in Kerala)
• August 30, 2023 (Wednesday) Raksha Bandhan (closed in Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh)
• August 31, 2023 (Thursday) Raksha Bandhan/Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi/Pang-Lhabsol (closed in Uttarakhand, Assam, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh)

Account holders can access the majority of banking services

both financial and non-financial—through net banking, mobile banking, or WhatsApp banking on bank holidays. Make sure you have signed up for online banking, mobile banking, or WhatsApp banking services so you won’t experience any problems using banking services.
