The list of bank holidays for the year 2024 has been announced by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). There will be numerous holidays for Banks in this month, as there is every month (Bank Holidays 2024 in India). The countrywide list of bank holidays has been made public by the RBI. It contains the weekly holidays of Saturday and Sunday in addition to the holidays associated with numerous events that take place in various states. As per the details provided on the RBI’s official website, banks will be closed for a total of 14 days in May. It is during this time that you won’t be able to do any work related to banking.

  • 5 May 2024: Banks will remain closed across the country on Sunday.
  • 11 May 2024: Banks will remain closed across the country due to the second Saturday of the month.
  • 12 May 2024: Banks will remain closed across the country on Sunday.
  • 19 May 2024: Banks will remain closed across the country on Sunday.
  • 25 May 2024: Banks will remain closed across the country due to the fourth Saturday of the month.
  • 26 May 2024: Banks will remain closed across the country on Sunday.

banks will be closed for several holidays in May on the occasion of major festivals, such as Akshaya Tritiya (Akshaya Tritiya 2024), Buddha Purnima (2024), and Lokshabha Elections (2024).

  • 1 May 2024: Apart from Maharashtra, banks will remain closed in many states on the occasion of Maharashtra Day and Labor Day.
  • 7 May 2024: they will remain closed in the states of Bhopal, Ahmedabad, Raipur, and Panaji due to the Lok Sabha elections.
  • 8 May 2024: Banks will remain closed on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.
  • 10 May 2024: Banks will remain closed in many states including Bengaluru on the occasion of Basava Jayanti/Akshay Tritiya.
  • Due to the 13 May 2024 Lok Sabha elections, it will remain closed in different states including Srinagar.
  • 16 May 2024: Due to the State Day holiday, all will remain closed in Gangtok.
  • 20 May 2024: they will remain closed in Belapur and Mumbai due to Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
  • 23 May 2024: On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, banks in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Bhopal, Kanpur, Dehradun, Raipur, Ranchi, Aizawl, Itanagar, Nagpur, Belarpur, Agartala, Jammu, Shimla and Srinagar will remain closed.

However, you do not need to worry during bank holidays (May Bank Holidays Full List). During bank holidays (Banks Closed in May), you will not be able to do banking-related work just by going to the branch. But online, UPI, mobile banking, and ATM services will continue to run without any interruption, bank holidays will not affect them.
