A significant modification to the passport application procedure for overseas travel took effect on August 5. Applicants must now upload the required paperwork to the government platform DigiLocker in order to obtain a new passport. Applicants can submit their passport applications online using the official website www.passportindia.gov.in once the necessary paperwork has been uploaded.
Passport application process – The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated
that applicants will not need to bring original physical copies of documents during the application procedure if they use DigiLocker to upload their documents, as stated in the material on the government scheme. The application procedure will be fairly simple and quick after this stage.
What is DigiLocker?
A digital wallet service offered by India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is called DigiLocker. Users can use this to store their various government documents securely online. Users can save their driver’s license, vehicle registration certificate, Aadhaar, ration card, academic transcripts, and many other documents it, which can be viewed at any time.
The Ministry now permits
the submission of online applications using Aadhaar-related documents via DigiLocker. As stated by the government plan material, DigiLocker enables users to safeguard and access crucial official papers including Education Certificates, Birth Certificates, PAN Cards, Aadhaar Cards, Passports, and Voter ID Cards, speeding up and making the procedure more comfortable for applicants.
DigiLocker was previously used to
protect the paperwork for your car. You can escape checking by presenting your documents only in digital form because these documents will be regarded as valid if the traffic police is checking while your car is being stopped. However, your car documents won’t be regarded as legitimate if you keep them somewhere other than DigiLocker.
