You too may soon find relief from pricey plane tickets if bothered by the excessive trip costs. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued an instruction stating that efforts are in place to lower the base tariff of flights for passengers.
According to the DGCA,
the fixed rates that airlines issue also include the costs associated with some services they offer. Feedback from several sources indicates that travelers frequently do not require these services offered by the airlines when traveling. A circular has been released. According to the DGCA’s circular, the basic ticket can be made more reasonably priced by breaking apart the services and their associated costs. Customers can use this to choose how much to pay for the services they wish to use. ‘Opt-in’ rather than ‘opt-out’ is the appropriate premise for providing differentiated services.
The DGCA has published a list of seven services that,
if included in the ticket price, can significantly reduce the cost of the base rate.
>> Passenger seat selection charges
>> Meal/snacks/drink charges
>> Charges for using airline lounge
>> Check-in baggage charges
>> Sports equipment charges
>> Musical equipment charges
As part of the airline baggage policy,
scheduled airlines will be able to provide ‘zero baggage/no-check-in baggage rates’ in addition to free luggage allowance. In addition, the DGCA has stated that you would be informed of the applicable fees if you carry bags to the airline counter for check-in. It will also be printed on the ticket in addition to this.
