The Central Government launched a brand-new program called Mahila Samman Saving Scheme while presenting presents to women. Women may invest up to Rs 2 lakh under this. The interest rate offered under this program is 7.5 percent annually and is paid out on a quarterly basis. In addition, the maturity time has been set at two years. The Mahila Samman Saving Scheme (MSSC) has received deposits

totaling Rs. 8,630 crore so far. A total of 14,83,980 accounts have been opened under this plan at the same time. This indicates that more women are participating in this plan as investors. The budget for the fiscal year 2023–2024 included an announcement on the Mahila Samman Saving Certificate Scheme. The post office, all public sector banks, and four private sector banks have all received registration from the central government to conduct this scheme. The majority of banks do not, however, now provide the program through online banking. The only way to open this account is offline. 296,771 women have deposited Rs. 1,560 crore in Maharashtra. Karnataka came in third with 105,134 accounts, followed by Tamil Nadu with 255,125 accounts and deposits totaling Rs 977 crore. In the first quarter of the current fiscal year, the Senior Citizen Saving Scheme’s revenue surged by 176 percent to Rs 55,000 crore.

To cover its budgetary shortfall, the Centre has expanded its reliance on NSSF. The NSSF is expected to expand from Rs 3.96 trillion in FY2023 to Rs 4.71 trillion in FY24, according to the government’s budget.
