Apple may finally migrate to USB-C for charging its iPhone models, years after Android smartphones. The tech behemoth will probably start with the iPhone 15 series, which is expected to debut this fall. We can infer that the iPhone 15 series will ship with USB-C instead of a lightning cable based on the initial appearance of an alleged connector coupled to flexible PCB components. The iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15, and iPhone 15 Plus would all include USB type-C connector ports attached to flexible PCB component parts, according to pictures leaked by leakers @John011235 and @lipilipsi and shared on X.
This supports prior predictions that Apple would abandon the lightning cord in favor of USB-C, made by renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Recall that the European Union (EU) agreed
and implemented regulations in October 2022 to implement a standard charger by the end of 2024 for tiny electronic devices like smartphones and tablets. The EU law’s passage meant that Apple would have to say goodbye to the lightning iPhone port it had been introducing in recent iPhone models, including the iPhone 14 series from a year ago.
iPhone 15 – According to a recent claim by Gurman
The Apple 15 Pro would include significant camera enhancements, extremely tiny bezels, and USB-C charging in place of lightning. Like the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus from the previous year, Apple is probably internally altering the iPhones to make them more repairable.
Recall that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus featured
a new chassis and were the first iPhone models to feature front and rear openings since 2011’s iPhone 4S. The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models were not included in the chassis revision, at least for authorized repairs.
iPhone 15 – According to a recent leak from China
The future Apple iPhone15 Pro versions would most likely have a minimum capacity of 256GB. According to the source, the iPhone15 Pro and iPhone15 Pro Max models’ maximum capacity would rise to 2TB. As reported by the news aggregator account “yeux1122” on the Korean Naver site, a supplier has confirmed that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be available with a maximum storage capacity that is double that of the iPhone 14 Pro models from the previous year.
