It frequently occurs when the ticket you are waiting for is not confirmed. The Indian Railways cancel that ticket in such a scenario. Passengers are charged a significant amount as a convenience fee when their tickets are canceled. This waiting regulation and RAC tickets have undergone significant alteration. The new regulation states that passengers will no longer be required to pay exorbitant fees for RAC ticket cancellations or wait times.
Indian Railways altered the regulations.
Railways have made a significant rule change by deciding to do away with extra fees for RAC ticket cancellation and waiting. That is, you won’t be assessed further fees if the waiting ticket is cancelled or is cancelled charges in the name of convenience fee. According to the new rules of Railways, now Rs 60 will be charged from passengers for canceling their tickets.
Why were the rules altered?
Sunil Kumar Khandelwal, a social activist from Jharkhand, had complained to the Railways about the exorbitant fee they imposed for canceling tickets that were still in process. He expressed his dissatisfaction that Railways is solely making large profits from ticket cancellation fees. Using the example of a passenger who had paid Rs 190 for a ticket, he clarified. The ticket was a waiting ticket, and if it wasn’t confirmed, the Railways would cancel it themselves. He only received Rs 95 after the Railways canceled the ticket; the remaining sum was recouped as a convenience fee. Following this complaint, Railways and IRCTC reversed their judgment. Railways have determined that just the Rs 60 cancellation fee per traveler, set by the Railways will be levied on such tickets.
Modified the water bottle policy
Let us inform you that the regulations governing the water bottles that passengers in Vande Bharat trains are given have lately been modified by the Railways. The railways opted to provide passengers with 500 ml bottles rather than 1-litre ones. A complimentary additional 500 ml bottle will be provided to passengers based on their needs. Railways have taken this action to conserve water.
