Teams that place in the top 7 in the World Cup 2023 points table—aside from Pakistan—will be eligible to compete in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. The Champions Trophy will return to the international schedule for 2024–2031 thanks to the International Cricket Council (ICC). The competition will take place across two seasons in 2025 and 2029. Four teams will compete in the Champions Trophy in two groups, following the conventional format. Each group’s top two teams advance to the semi-finals.
These eight teams will earn a spot in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
The way teams like Bangladesh and England performed in the World Cup in India may have to be a source of sadness. Bangladesh currently holds ninth place in the World Cup standings with the same amount of points, whereas England is currently in 10th place with just two points. With three games remaining in the tournament, both sides will need to play at their very best if they want to finish in the top seven. Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Bangladesh, emphasized the significance of placing among the top seven teams at the World Cup.
Disclosed whole plan
Following Saturday’s loss to the Netherlands, Shakib Al Hasan stated, “I mean, we need to do a little better, but our chances of reaching the semi-finals are very low.” You must finish in the (top) eight (along with Pakistan) to qualify for the Champions Trophy (2025). Remembering this, there are still three remaining matchups. Afghanistan is now ranked seventh in the standings, and the Netherlands is ranked eighth.
There is a chance for both of these teams
to win the Champions Trophy. But one disadvantage of this rule is that since these teams aren’t participating in this competition, teams like Zimbabwe, Ireland, and the West Indies won’t be able to qualify for the Champions Trophy.
