In Elon Musk’s Twitter This function was formerly exclusive to X Premium subscribers. All users can now benefit from it. It’s anticipated that this will provide fierce competition for other businesses, such as Meta’s WhatsApp.
The X team disclosed
On social media, Enrique Barragan, an engineer on X’s team, personally disclosed this information. He wrote, “You should try the feature we are gradually introducing for non-premium users: audio and video calls.” ‘Allow calls from everyone’ is now an additional option available. You can only make calls or video calls with specific individuals at this time. Only those whose numbers are on your phone’s contact list or who you follow can be called. You must have communicated with them by messaging at some time before picking up the phone. You can, however, modify your settings to choose other people to accept calls from. You have the option to only accept calls from users who are present on the platform or from those you follow.
The feature is now accessible to all users.
Before this, Twitter had limited the calling capability to iPhone users—and only to those who could afford it. Even when the firm first introduced the calling feature for Android users earlier this year, it was only available to those who paid for it. Currently, all users can access this function for free.
How to call on X?
Step 1: Go to the Direct Message (DM) area of the X app on your phone after opening it.
Step 2: To initiate a call, click the phone icon and choose between an audio or video call. The individual you are attempting to reach will receive a notification of your call.
Step 3: You have the option to control who can call you. For this, go to the Settings option in the top right corner.
