A significant setback has befallen the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2024. Devon Conway, their opening batter, will not play in the IPL in 2024. Due to injuries, he has not been able to participate in any games this season. Conway remained unfit even after the squad had played six games. The franchise decided to replace him in this scenario. Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand is starting for the team instead of Conway.
Conway was a crucial component of CSK.
Richard Gleeson, an English fast bowler, has been added to the Chennai squad instead of Conway. In a statement released on Thursday, the Indian Premier League (IPL) stated that Devon Conway would not be participating in the 2024 season due to injuries. Conway has worked for CSK for the last two seasons. Helped them win the title last year. He played 23 matches and scored 924 runs. He has 9 half-centuries to his name. Conway’s highest score is 92 runs.
Gleeson debuted in India.
However, Gleeson, who is 36 years old, has yet to be allowed to participate in the IPL. He played his first T20 encounter for England against India in 2022. In that particular match, Gleeson had dismissed Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma. He has participated in six England T20 matches.
Gleason is earning Rs 50 lakh
In a statement, the IPL added even more: “Richard Gleeson has joined the CSK team. Gleeson has amassed 101 wickets in 90 T20 matches. He would pay a base salary of Rs 50 lakh to join CSK. The third position in the points standings is occupied by the Chennai team. In six bouts, he has won four of them. CSK is the winner of the title five times.
