What is the government’s plan?
Significantly, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced subsidy on 12 gas cylinders in May 2021, which is benefiting more than 9 crore people. At present, under the Ujjwala scheme, subsidy (LPG Gas Subsidy) is given on 12 cylinders every year. Under this scheme, customers are given a subsidy of Rs 200 on every LPG cylinder. According to the news of Live Mint, the government may extend the Ujjwala scheme beyond March 2023 to meet the 100 percent LPG coverage target in the coming year.
More than 9 crore will get benefited!
It has been informed in this report that the Finance Ministry can extend this scheme for one more financial year. Let us tell you that the government has started this scheme to give relief to the rising inflation. Under this, people coming below the poverty line get financial assistance of Rs 1600 annually for getting an LPG gas connection. The government also provides free refills and chulha under this scheme.
