When someone breaks the rules and doesn’t abide by them, WhatsApp is very strict with them. In accordance with the new IT Rules 2021, WhatsApp blocked the records of more than 47 lakh problematic accounts in India in the month of March. This information was provided by the company on Monday.
So many accounts were blocked
According to WhatsApp’s monthly compliance report, “Between March 1 and March 31, 4,715,906 WhatsApp accounts were banned, with 1,659,385 of these accounts being actively banned before any reports came from users.” ‘ A record 4,720 complaint reports and a record 585 “actions” were filed against the most widely used messaging app in the nation, which has close to 500 million users. According to a business representative, “This user safety report includes details of user complaints received and actions taken by WhatsApp, as well as WhatsApp’s own preventive actions to address abuse on our platform.”
The business also stated that there were three orders
issued by the Grievances Appellate Committee between March 1 and March 31. And that the same number of orders were obeyed. The recently established body will examine
user appeals against judgments made by social media platforms. In an effort to tighten the nation’s digital laws and rein in large tech giants. Three GACs were announced to be established last month by the IT Ministry in accordance with the updated IT Rules, 2021.
The Ministry of Electronics and IT has announced a
number of revisions aimed at defending the rights of the “Digital Citizen”. As part of a move toward an open, secure, dependable, and accountable internet.
