SBI Insurance cover: There is good news for SBI debit cardholders. Jan Dhan account holders also get an insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh. The benefit of which reaches crores of weaker sections of the people. 

SBI Insurance Cover:  There is good news for the customers of the country’s largest bank SBI. SBI is giving the benefit of Rs 2 lakh to its customers for free. RuPay is offering free Accidental Cover up to Rs 2 lakh to all Jan-Dhan account holders using Debit cards. Let us know its process. 

This is how you will get 2 lakh cover 

The amount of insurance will be decided by SBI according to the period of opening of their Jan Dhan account to the customers. Customers whose Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) account has been opened till August 28, 2018, will get a sum insured of up to Rs 1 lakh on the RuPay PMJDY card issued to them. Whereas on RuPay cards issued after August 28, 2018, accidental cover benefit of up to Rs 2 lakh will be available.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is a scheme under which the account of the poor of the country is opened on zero balance in banks, post offices, and nationalized banks. Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), many types of facilities are provided to the customers. In this, any person can open a Jan Dhan account online or by visiting a bank by submitting KYC documents. Not only this, anyone can get their savings bank account converted into Jan Dhan. In this, RuPay is given by the bank. This debit card can be used for accidental death insurance, purchase protection cover, and many other benefits

Who will get the benefit of this scheme 

Jan Dhan account holders will get the benefit of Accidental Death Insurance under RuPay Debit Card when the insured has done any successful financial or non-financial transaction on any channel, both intra or interbank within 90 days from the date of the accident. In such a case, only the amount will be paid.

Take advantage 

To get the claim, you have to first fill the claim form. Along with this, the original death certificate or certified copy will have to be attached. Attach the original or certified copy of the FIR. There should also be a post mortem report and FSL report. Aadhar card copy. Affidavits of having a RuPay card with the cardholder will have to be given on the bank stamp paper. All documents have to be submitted within 90 days. The name and bank details of the nominee will have to be submitted along with a copy of the passbook.

Required documents

1. Insurance claim form.

2. A copy of the death certificate.

3. Aadhar copy of the cardholder and the nominee.

4. Copy of post mortem report with chemical analysis or FSL report if death is due to other cause.

5. Original or attested copy of FIR or Police report giving details of the accident.

6. Declaration form duly signed by the authorized signatory and bank stamp on behalf of the card-issuing bank.

7. In this the contact details along with the name and email id of the bank officer should be given.
