Following the record high of 28,867 cases on January 13, there have been fewer cases occurring every day since then. A positivity rate of 30.6 percent was recorded on January 15, the highest so far in the ongoing wave of the pandemic.
New Delhi: According to Delhi’s health department, 5,760 new Covid cases were reported on Monday (January 24), and 30 people died, bringing the positivity rate down to 11.79 percent. The health bulletin indicates that 48,844 Covid tests were conducted in Delhi in January.
The Delhi government reported 9,197 Covid cases on Sunday, with a positivity rate of 13.32 percent, and 34 deaths from the infection. The number of cases fell below 10,000 in just 10 days.
The capital recorded 45 deaths from Covid on Saturday, the highest number since June 5, and 11,486 cases with a positivity rate of 16.36 percent. On Friday, there were 10,756 cases and 38 deaths. In the national capital, 543 people have died from Covid so far this month.
Health Minister Satyendar Jain and other officials have insisted that Covid was not the primary cause of death for the majority of these patients, who had comorbidities such as cancer, liver, and kidney disease.
2394 (15.53%) of Delhi hospitals’ 15,411 beds are occupied by Covid patients.
Currently, 160 patients are on ventilator support, down from 2,624 on January 19 to 2,290 on January 22.
There are 45,140 active cases of Covid in Delhi, of which 36,838 are recuperating at home, according to the report.
