Mahindra Thar RWD Features and Specifications: The new RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) variant of Mahindra Thar is going to be launched on 9 January 2023. Ahead of the launch, the carmaker has updated the brochure of the SUV on its official website. This has revealed the engine specifications, features, and color options of the Mahindra Thar RWD. The Thar RWD variant will also get a new 1.5L turbocharged diesel engine, which produces 118bhp and 300Nm. The same engine also powers the XUV300 subcompact SUV.

The rear-wheel drive system will also be carried over to the Thar along with the existing 2.0L turbo petrol engine, which produces 152bhp max power and 300Nm (MT) / 320Nm (AT) peak torque. The new 1.5L turbo diesel engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox while the 2.0L turbo petrol unit will come with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options.
Talking about the features, the new Mahindra Thar RWD AX (O) will get a monochrome MID display, vinyl upholstery, manual mirror adjustments, tubular steel side steps, and 17-inch alloy wheels. However, it will miss out on cruise control, a tire pressure monitoring system, steering mounted controls, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and in-built speakers.
The 1.5L AX(O) variant will get an electronic stability program with hill hold, hill descent control, and rollover mitigation. The Thar RWD variant will be made available in new Blazing Bronze and Everest White colours. The 4X4 variant of the SUV comes in four paint schemes – Galaxy Grey, Aquamarine, Red Rage, and Napoli Black.
The RWD version of Thar will not be for offroading whereas Thar is known for its offroading capabilities. But, now the RWD will not have that offroading capability. Apart from this, there will also be a lack of some features, due to which customers may be disappointed.
