The 2021 MG Astor is the fifth car from the company to go on sale in India, which is the petrol model of the MG ZS EV.
MG Motor India has launched the new Astor compact SUV in India at a starting price of ₹ 9.78 lakh for the VTi-Tech manual trim. These prices go up to ₹ 16.78 lakh for the most expensive Sharp trim, all prices ex-showroom. Level 2 ADAS safety features will be available as an option on the VTi-Tech Sharp CVT and 220 Sharp automatic variants of the car. The 2021 MG is the company’s fifth car in the country to go on sale in India and is the petrol engine of the MG ZS EV. The car is also the most affordable offering from the brand till date.
The new MG Astor is the company’s first model to feature AI-based assistant and level 2 autonomous technology with ADAS. The car is built on the company’s Car-as-a-Platform (CAAP) under which MG plans to offer a range of technologies to its customers using the Aster as a platform. This technology will make its way across the entire model range of MG.

The Aster SUV is offered in two engine options. The first is a 1.4-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine that makes 138 bhp at 5600 rpm and 220 Nm at 3600 rpm and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The other is a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder petrol that comes mated to a manual gearbox as well as an eight-step CVT gearbox. It is tuned to make 108 bhp at 6000 rpm and 144 Nm of peak torque at 4400 rpm.
The cabin of the car gets a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch instrument cluster, a multi-functional steering wheel with chrome inserts, power-adjustable front seats, auto climate control, and a 360-degree camera view. Is. The car comes with over 80 internet features including Wikipedia, jokes, news, festival GIFS, navigation, and online music streaming. For safety, the SUV gets 6 airbags, ISOFIX mounts, traction control, hill descent control, and four-disc brakes.
