As to the statistics provided by the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR)- India, the overall quality of air in Delhi on Thursday remained ‘poor’, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 256.
According to the most recent SAFAR data,
the morning air quality in the vicinity of Delhi University was rated as 316 (extremely poor), whereas it was rated at 256 in the IIT region.

According to Safar India, the average
AQI was 176 (moderate) in Gurugram and 256 (bad) in Noida. Meanwhile, around 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Delhi’s average AQI was 252. It was 220 at 11 a.m. on Tuesday and dropped to 216 at 9 p.m. Gopal Rai, the environment minister for Delhi, announced earlier on Wednesday that the city government will revive the “Red Light on Gaadi Off” program to reduce vehicle pollution in the nation’s capital starting today. In light of the steps taken in the city to combat pollution, he also encouraged the bordering states to outlaw firecrackers in advance of the approaching Diwali celebration.
The national capital’s air quality is expected to
fluctuate between the poor and extremely poor categories in the future days due to the impending winter and holiday season, according to the Center’s Air Quality Early Warning System. On Tuesday, in honor of Dussehra, there were also multiple reports of firecracker-burning events from various areas of Delhi.
