The government has chosen to sell cheap rice in response to rising inflation. The nationwide sale of Bharat rice, or “Bharat rice,” has begun as of today. Rice will be available for purchase on Tuesday for Rs 29 per kilogram. There will be 5 kg and 10 kg bags of subsidized rice available. Food Minister Piyush Goyal reportedly put Bharat Chawal on duty in the nation’s capital, according to an official statement.
The Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS),
which was deemed to be a subpar procedure, sold rice to bulk users at set rates. Following this, the government decided to use FCI for rice retail sales. Bharat Rice can be purchased through NAFED, NCCF, and Kendriya Bhandar during the initial stage.  Purchase at Rs. 29 per kilogram. Today at 4 PM, the government began selling Bharat Rice under the Bharat Brand. This rice is available for about Rs 29 per kilogram. There will be boxes of 5 and 10 kilograms of this rice available.
Where is Bharat Rice sold?
Both conventional stores and mobile vans sell Bharat Rice. Three primary cooperative agencies sell it. It will also soon be sold on e-commerce sites and at other retail locations. The National Cooperative Consumer Federation of India (NCCF) and NAFED would receive 5 lakh tonnes from the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
Pulses, onions, and flour are also inexpensively accessible.
The government had previously intended to offer cheaper flour, pulses, onions, and tomatoes under the Bharat brand to curb the nation’s increasing inflation rate. Affordable rice will also be accessible right now. The Central Government introduced Bharat Atta on November 6, 2023. In the country, the average cost of a kilogram of flour is Rs 35, but you may purchase it for Rs 27.50. In addition, pulses can be purchased for Rs 60 per kilogramme.
